To the girls with the “not so perfect” selfie,
There is more to life than “literal perfection <3” or “can I just be you” comments on Instagram.
What’s wrong with us girls? We get so caught up in what the world defines as “perfect” we neglect that we were created the exact same way as EVERY girl: in the image of the Creator. There is nothing that makes her more special than you. Each one of us is designed with special talents that we can use to glorify Jesus. Maybe you haven’t quite figured out what yours are yet. I would encourage you to take some time to read through the Scriptures and ask Jesus to reveal to you your spiritual gifts. When you find them, USE them.
Social media can be good, but more often than not I think it is just another tool Satan is using to try to defeat us girls. Ever catch yourself thinking “I wish I could like that” or “if I just lost more weight” when you look at certain pictures? Don’t worry, I do it too. You are not alone in the battle of self-worth. It is a battle many girls are fighting every day. It’s a battle that is easy to lose, but even easier to win with the right weapons.
*HOW TO WIN THE BATTLE OF PERFECTION* (these are just my tips, try them and tell me how it works for you!)
*If you do not do the three most important steps above, you have already lost!
LOVE the one’s that don’t get a second glance. Love others and watch how the Lord will transform your mind about the way you view yourself. (This one goes great with number 5!!)
Like many girls, I used to beat down on my self-worth all the time. A couple years ago, a good friend of mine challenged me to share my testimony with some girls at camp. This was haaaaaaard. I had never really told anyone how much I suffered from it. I let a few mean girls shape and determine my value for me. The impact that had on my life lasted YEARS. I didn’t know how to fight the battle, so I gave in.
Girls, the price of perfection is costly. Please stop buying into the lies of beauty products and skinny wraps. It will only leave you with an empty bank account and a dissatisfied heart.
The beauty you’re longing for already exists.
You don’t need face book likes and Instagram comments.
You don’t need to lose weight and you don’t need bolder eye lashes.
You NEED to break open the Bible and spend some time on your knees.

- PRAY. Not just daily, but the moment doubt creeps in that you are not good enough.
- READ. Seriously, read your Bible.
- MEMORIZE. Find some verses that you can tape onto your bathroom mirror. This will really help on the mornings that you don’t want to say “I woke up like this” ;).
*If you do not do the three most important steps above, you have already lost!
- QUIT. Quit with the negative thoughts about yourself and your body. (This is one of the only times in life where quitting will make you a WINNER.)
- THINK. Philippians 4:8. Go look it up. I’ve already helped you with step number two. ;)
- LOVE. Love OTHERS. PLEASE get rid of these clichés: “love yourself” or “If you don’t love yourself how can you love other people”.
